Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has explained why he substituted Saul Niguez off the pitch at half-time in the 2-1 win over Watford, with
Saul getting the chance to start.
Saul, who joined Chelsea on loan from Atletico Madrid over the summer. Was handed only his second Premier League start at Vicarage Road on Wednesday night.
But the Spaniard struggled in the first half as Emmanuel Dennis cancelled out. Mason Mount’s opener and was replaced by Thiago Silva at the interval.
The second match in the Premier League for the “Sing the Blues”, which is the second time he has failed to make a significant contribution. Until being substituted from the field at half-time,
Tuchel explained why he substituted the Spaniard and sent Thiago Silva on instead.
